PhD project: Role of wild vegetation-insect interactions in determining beneficial insect communities

Objectives:

The aim of my PhD project is to investigate the interactions between wild vegetation and beneficial insects in an agroecological context. Vegetation growing in field margins, hedgerows and wild vegetation found in cropped fields (weeds) can provide resources for pollinators and natural enemies of pests. We want to elucidate which type of habitats beneficial insects prefer. The fieldwork will be done in organically cultivated land where pollination and non-chemical pest control methods are especially important.
