PhD project: Study on the effects of microRNAs extracted from Vitis vinifera L. (cv. Sangiovese) grapevine berry on the heart following myocardial infarction: a novel nutraceutical approach

Objectives: Recent studies confirm the ability of plant microRNAs to survive in the bloodstream and to modulate the expression of mammalian target genes. The research, carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Clinical Physiology at CNR, aims to investigate the role of plant microRNAs in cardiovascular disease, evaluating if the intake of microRNAs contained in Vitis vinifera berries can protect cardiac cells and improve the heart performance.
